When I am photographing with film, I cannot rapid fire photos like I can with a digital camera. Film photography forces me to slow down, and be entirely intentional with the moments and feelings that I am capturing. I wait for exactly the right moment, and the right feeling. 

That intentionality changes everything about the photos that are produced.

When I know that I only have a certain number of exposures, I become more selective with what I document.  My focus shifts from “Did I get it?” to “Is this a moment I know they’ll appreciate saving?”

I believe that all photo mediums have a way of translating emotions that words may not be able to. I also believe that film is especially good at that. Film photos have an undeniable emotional quality to them. The tones are softer, and the images feel lived in rather than overly polished.

One of the most amazing aspects of film is that it requires trust. You don’t see the images instantly. There’s no scrolling through previews or checking the back of a camera.
