As a Colorado wedding photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph weddings in some pretty incredible Colorado wedding venues. One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer in such a beautiful state is that no two venues ever feel quite the same. From historic Denver mansions to mountain views, riverside ceremonies, flower gardens, horses for your photos, and so much more, Colorado has no shortage of beautiful places to get married!

Over time, I’ve found a few venues that I especially love photographing wedding days at. Not only are they beautiful, but they give me so many opportunities to create a gallery that feels varied, intentional, and true to the couple and their wedding day.

Grant Humphreys Mansion | Denver, Colorado

If you’re looking for a Colorado wedding venue that feels timeless, romantic, and a little vintage without feeling dated, Grant Humphreys Mansion is one of my favorites.

Located in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, Grant Humphreys Mansion is incredibly convenient for couples and their guests to get to. But once you’re inside, it feels like you’ve stepped into a completely different world. Nothing about it feels like the middle of Denver.

From a photography perspective, I love how many different options there are for photo locations throughout the property. There are beautiful indoor spaces as well as outdoor areas, which means we can create a gallery with a lot of variety without having to travel between multiple locations. That also means you have the choice of an indoor or outdoor ceremony!

The getting ready suites are also a huge bonus. Both the bridal and groom suites have their own character and photograph beautifully, which makes those getting ready moments of the wedding day feel just as intentional as the rest of the day.

And then of course, there’s the mansion itself. The architecture gives you those classy, vintage details that look incredible in photos, while the overall venue still feels modern enough to fit a wide range of wedding styles. Whether you’re drawn to a timeless, editorial style, or something a little more candid and documentary inspired, there are plenty of opportunities to make the space fit your day.

This venue really gives you everything you could want. Beautiful indoor architecture, outdoor options, incredible getting ready spaces, and the convenience of being right in Denver.

Riverbend Lyons | Lyons, Colorado

For couples dreaming of an outdoor Colorado wedding, Riverbend in Lyons is hard to beat.

This venue has that Colorado feeling you want from a mountain wedding, but with a very modern aesthetic. There are mountain views, a river running through the property, and a flower garden, all of which add so many fun layers to your day. 

One of my favorite things about Riverbend is how naturally the landscape becomes part of the wedding day. You can have an outdoor ceremony surrounded by the scenery and then transition into a reception space without losing that connection to the outdoors. For a photographer, that creates so many opportunities to incorporate the environment into the photos rather than treating the beautiful landscape as an afterthought. This space is perfect if you are wanting a venue that is fully outdoors, but also has a beautiful indoor space for receptions. 

One of the biggest things that stands out to me about this venue is the incredible staff. Wedding days can be unpredictable sometimes. Things move around, timelines change, and occasionally something doesn’t go exactly to plan. The team at Riverbend is ALWAYS willing to jump in and help with anything they can, which makes a huge difference not just for the couple, but for everyone working the wedding. As a photographer, having a venue team that is collaborative and willing to help makes it so much easier to focus on what I’m there to do! Which is to capture the people, the moments, and all the little details that make the day yours!

This venue feels very Colorado in all the best ways. Mountain views, a river, and a flower garden. But it goes a step further by incorporating a modern design into all of that, while still maintaining an outdoor focus. 

Double Eddy Ranch | Buena Vista, Colorado

If your idea of a perfect wedding involves getting a little further away from everything, Double Eddy Ranch is the venue for you.

Located in Buena Vista, Double Eddy Ranch has an intimate, secluded feeling that I absolutely love. There’s something special about being surrounded by the mountains and feeling like you’ve temporarily escaped from the busyness of the rest of the world.

And from a photographer’s perspective, there is SO much to work with. One of the biggest perks is the variety of locations available for portraits. You can drive up the mountain and find so many amazing spots, which means your wedding gallery can feel like an adventure rather than a single location. And then of course, there’s Mount Princeton. Getting married with a Colorado 14er towering behind you is iconic. The scale of the landscape creates those big, dramatic photos that instantly remind you why you chose Colorado in the first place.

But Double Eddy Ranch isn’t just about the mountain views. The venue offers fully inclusive packages, which can make the planning process much easier for couples who want more of their wedding experience handled in one place. 

And if you’re lucky enough to incorporate the horses into your portraits? Even better. There’s something pretty unforgettable about wedding photos in the Colorado mountains with horses nearby.

This is one of those venues where I would encourage couples to really lean into the setting. Give yourself time for portraits, explore the property, drive up the mountain. Let the landscape be part of the story.
