Engagement sessions are best captured in a way that is unhurried, fun, and true to you. This Echo Lake Park engagement session gave us exactly that. Soft mountain light, quiet water, and the kind of evening that makes you slow down for a minute. We spent the session moving between the lake shore and the trees, while soaking in every slow and sweet moment.

I captured this session on both digital and film, which made the entire gallery feel even more nostalgic and raw. I was able to use the digital images to capture the movement and changing light, and the film to add the texture and softness that is so widely loved.

One of my favorite parts about photographing at Echo Lake Park is how quickly the scenery changes. Within a short walk you get mountain views, peaceful water, evergreens, and open sky.
The light the evening of this session perfectly complimented the scenery. It remained soft almost the entire session, which gave everything a natural, clean tone that worked beautifully on both digital and film.

I always encourage sessions to feel more like time spent together than posed photos. Some of my favorite images from this evening happened in between directions. Things like sharing a drink together, laughing after missed steps on the rocks, and the peaceful intimate moments near the water.

Echo Lake Park is easily one of my favorite locations in Colorado for sessions that feel relaxed, cinematic, and connected to nature. Especially when paired with film photography, it creates images that feel timeless in the best way.

Sessions just like this one are the kinds of sessions I want people to come back to years from now. Honest moments, beautiful light, and photographs that feel like memories instead of poses.
